menschlich.[ba 60 rbd]

28:50 is the new album from Patrizio Orsini aka "poratz". Born in
Livorno Italy Patrizio played guitar before he became a Dj. Later
he get interested in experimental and loop music performed by
artists like Prefuse 73 or Schneider TM. Now with the release
of "28:50" are invited to an unusual trip. Poratz is a talented
genius; let me state this right from the start, its absolute
amazing how he combines his music to a big picture with a
million hidden treasures. With each look on this picture the
changes and tells a new story. Magic!
28:50 combines experimental loops and high frequency sounds
together with laid-back melodies, melancholic and dreamy
soundscapes and hidden dance sounds like on the fantastic
"boat in my mind". This Album is rich! Rich of sounds, feelings
and ideas, a musical kaleidoscope created by an artist who
lives his music. Six beautiful and unique tracks take you on an
unforgettable yourney lasting for 28:50 minutes...
or for a lifetime?

Italian-born DJ, Patrizio Orsini, reaches out with what appears
to be his debut release. 28.50, the title of the album and length
of the record, starts off with panache as a cacophony of
spliced samples are woven together to create a dry yet
involving slice of instrumental IDM.
The clunky 01 follows a simialar trajectory, this time lobbing
cut-up vocal frames into the mix as a relentless beat thuds
away in the background. The best track is probably 11,
because it contains the antidote to what most of 28.50 is
missing, atmosphere. Its dark, grainy ambience offset by
slimline cascading drum sounds amidst flickering crackles.
Brooding stuff.
The programming is inventive, meticulously interlaced
throughout, and likely to appeal to IDM purists. However, those
looking for something more emotionally involving will probably
wilt before the end, as Poratz`s dehydrated sound lacks the
oxygen of sentiment and becomes depreciatingly repetitive
after a while.

Patrizio Orsini, in arte Poratz
Michigan a Schneider tm.

Behind Poratz we find one Patrizio Orsini, who used to be a
a guitar player, but then discovered that playing electronic
music is much nicer. Its only in this year that he started to play
electronic music as Poratz. Rhythm is what everything is all
about in the six pieces that he now releases in the 'Produkt
Series', the digital imprint of the Electroton label. Built from
clicks, hiss, pop, crack and snap, this is all quite familiar ground
for those who learned about the click 'n cut movement about
say a decade ago. Frank Bretschneider seems one very
obvious influence here, but I must say that Poratz plays his
pieces quite nice. The element of dance is always present in
these pieces, his production is flawless and 'Goodnight
Cleveland' has a nice, twinkling evil melodic touch it. That is the
best track of here. Maybe it could use a bit more of his own, but
its a nice start.
